This is a photo of Mark standing on his head. He thinks the world sometimes
makes more sense when you look at it upside down. When he is not standing on his
head, Mark often sits in front of his computer and writes. He writes a lot and
he has lots of stories but Cork on the Ocean is the first to be published. He
thought of the cork one day when he was on a small boat in big seas feeling
seasick and sorry for his sea-sickly self. Now he is happy he was seasick,
otherwise he might never have thought of the story. It's funny how things work
out sometimes.

Rowan likes to draw things, grow things, think about things and design things.
Sometimes she likes to do other things too, like cartwheels in the sand. That
is what she is doing here. Not a bad cartwheel, don’t you think? Rowan is a fan
of story-telling and loves coming up with new picture book ideas. This
requires imagining things, which is something else she likes to do. Sometimes
Rowan concentrates so hard on imagining things that she barely notices her cup
of tea has gone cold or that her cat has jumped up onto her lap! Cork on the
Ocean is her first book.
